Innovative Parking Solutions: Chandigarh Market Associations Lead the Charge

The MC of Chandigarh has had difficulty supplying basic amenities at its pay parking lots. However, the MWAs in Sectors 22-D and 19-C & D have demonstrated excellent parking management without charging visitor fees.

Unlike MC-managed facilities, these MWA-managed parking lots always have attendants at the entry/exit points. Not to mention, they are also present inside to guide visitors amid the heavy rush of vehicles. After all, these attendants are always in proper uniform

Disarray in MC-Run Parking Lots

Chandigarh MC charges visitors Rs 7 for two-wheelers and Rs 14 for four-wheelers to park in its lots. Moreover, prices rise yearly even without anyone on duty to point visitors to open areas inside. In fact, most MC parking lots see disorderly scenes during peak hours. Likewise, visitors struggle with haphazard parking when there are no attendants.

MWA-Managed Parking Efficiently

In contrast, the MWAs in Sectors 22-D and 19-C & D provide free parking. Furthermore, these markets have employees who are constantly on hand at the entrance/exit points and in the parking areas. Lastly, they effectively manage the parking spaces while donning appropriate uniforms.

President of Sector 22-D MWA Statement

“We have been running this parking lot since 2000,” said Arvind Jain, President of Sector 22-D MWA. Every vehicle will have parking available, and we put our customers’ and their possessions’ security first. Additionally, our parking attendants go above and beyond, helping clients with lost items and those with flat tires.

Shop owners leave plenty of space in front of their businesses for customers to shop comfortably by parking their cars at the back of the market, Jain continued. Furthermore, we have issues with commuters parking here frequently on public transportation and visitors from the nearby Rehri markets.

Consistency in Service

According to the operating hours of the market, the parking lots in Sectors 22-D and 19-C & D open at 9 am and close at 10 pm. Despite an increase in the number of vehicles over the years, these MWAs have consistently provided high-quality parking services.

“We have managed the Sector 19-C parking lot for about 25 years,” said Vinod Talwar, owner of Krishna Jewellers in Sector 19-C. In addition, our parking lot is expertly set up with designated spaces to provide convenience for customers. Unlike some paid lots where visitors struggle to find parking even after paying, our attendants actively guide visitors and monitor the spaces.”

Parking Attendants with Ingenuity

Parking attendants in these lots use innovative solutions to accommodate as many vehicles as possible. In fact, when marked spaces are occupied, cars are strategically parked behind others while keeping the handbrakes off. In short, this deliberate approach ensures that traffic flows smoothly within the parking areas.

Final Words

Overall, while the Chandigarh civic body struggles with issues in its paid parking facilities, the Sector 22-D and 19-C & D Market Welfare Associations set a good example. Moreover, they provide efficient, free parking services to improve customer satisfaction. Finally, the helpful parking attendants there play a critical role in ensuring the visitors’ safety and comfort.
